Nissan Leaf production in Tennessee begins

While production doesn’t officially start for a while still, Nissan has been running test in their Smyrna, TN plant and running Nissan Leaf electric vehicles through the process. This picture appeared on Nissan’s Facebook page and Nissan also released a video.

The electric motor of the Nissan Leaf will be produced in Decherd, TN, near Smyrna, rather than now where the eMotors are all assembled in Japan. Sidenote: there is over 1 mile of wire in every eMotor Nissan builds.

Nissan has large expectations for the Leaf production in the US, including creating US employment, and lowering battery pack prices thus increasing sales numbers.
